Our winter so far

I love winter here in NM. It is so easy to adapt to the warm weather. As soon as it gets to be about 50 degrees here people start shivering and complaining about how cold it is. It's kinda funny. We still enjoy it and take advantage of being outside.
So far every year that we have been here it has snowed at least once. We woke up one day a couple weeks ago to some snow. I knew it wouldn't last long so we got ready and went outside. The kids were so excited and insisted on putting on all their snow gear. They also were very insistent on building Olaf. I did the best I could with what we had to make Olaf. He looked a little dirty from the dead grass and dirt that stuck to the snowballs I made. The kids were happy with it though. They also had to make snow angels. The longer we stayed out there the warmer it got and the kids started shedding layers. We came back in after a little bit. I went back outside a little later to get the mail and the kids came with me in there short sleeve shirts and started jumping in puddles. It made me laugh. It was slightly chilly so I didn't let them play for too long. I think they would have played in them for awhile.

Playing some basketball. This hoop was just left here from the people that lived in our house before us. It has been fun but living here on base we have been told by security forces (military police) that we can not have it facing the street, because that's dangerous. However we live in a cul-de-sac with a sign before you drive into it that says "slow, children at play". So we just turn it back to facing our driveway when we are done playing.

We've had fun playing with the scooter/saucer things g-ma Denni made.

Excited for snow!

Our Olaf. It was Lynndon's ideas to hold his "hands" for the picture.

McCoy trying to put Olaf's nose back on.

Lynndon's snow angel.

Cooper's snow angel.

My snow angel...aka McCoy

And the layers start coming off...

The puddles only a couple hours after making our snowman.

I love that dirty little Olaf! Ha! And I love how excited the kids were for such little snow. And it is amazing how quickly it all changes there. I think I'd really like the weather there. I hope the rest of the winter is as fun!
