Christmas afternoon + a couple days in the Hospital

Later Christmas day, McCoy woke up from his nap and was still not doing very well. He had to get a few breathing treatments last winter and listening to him breath fast, shallow and wheezy and coughing but not being productive, I knew he needed a breathing treatment. It was christmas and I did not want to go to the ER but that was my only option. I thought, well we'll just go get a treatment and then be able to come home and he'll feel better. Ya we stayed in the ER for 6 hours with him getting treatments every so often and keeping oxygen blowing in his face. They tested for RSV and it came back positive. They also took an x-ray of his chest but never told me anything about how it looked. They kept coming in giving him treatments and listening to his breathing then decided they wanted to admit him to keep an eye on him and give him more treatments.
So we stayed the night. It was awful. Sleeping in hospitals is impossible. McCoy would not sleep in the crib. When I brought him to bed with me he just wanted to play. I also had to keep the oxygen mask by his face, it was very difficult because he hated it. I could tell when he had fallen asleep because the machine would start beeping because his oxygen would go down. So I'd hold the mask closer to his face. Then on top of that they come in every few hours to check on things and give him his treatments. The next day he was doing better and the doc said it was looking like we were going to maybe go home. He just wanted to test for the flu and take another x-ray of his chest. He said they saw something on his right lung the day before and they wanted to check on it. The test for the flu came back negative but the thing on his lung looked a little worse. He said he was confused because it looked like pneumonia but he didn't have a fever or some other symptoms of it. So he said he was going to start antibiotics just in case and have us stay another night to keep an eye on him. That night was just as bad. I had gotten him to sleep in the crib. A couple hours later the one nurse came in (who smelled like she had just gotten done smoking...awesome) and said to me "sorry gotta wake up baby". She did, took his temp...that's it! She left to get something and came back without whatever she went to get and saw that he was crying. Then said "oh i'm sorry I didn't mean to wake him". It then took me 3 hours to get him to go back to sleep. I was so mad that she would come in with her smoky breath and breathe and mess with my baby who was already having having a hard time breathing. Then purposely wake him up for nothing!
On a good note. They were so good about giving us things to eat and use. As we were not planning on staying there and didn't have anything with us but a couple diapers. That only lasts so long. I was so glad Bret's parents were here! They helped out soooo much. There was some difficulty with Bret being sick and us living on a military base. Bret or I have to be with the people visiting us to get on base. So I couldn't just send Denni to get things like PJs. So I slept 2 night in my jeans...after the first night Bret was feeling a little better and brought me some clothes. We didn't think we were going to stay anther night so he didn't bring PJs so I got to do a 2nd night in jeans. It's all good though and things worked out ok.
After the second night there the docs had switched that were working and the new one came in and talked to me in the morning. He explained that they were confused with McCoy because his symptoms (or lack there of) and x-ray stuff were not making sense but he seemed to be getting better. He said they tried multiple things so they were not sure what was the one that helped. So he had RSV, which then caused bronchiolitis (different than bronchitis), and a possibility of pneumonia. Those are all treated differently. It was all crazy but McCoy is lots better now and doing great. He was so happy when we got home and had a second christmas. His reactions to his toys were lots better this time.

Hanging out in the ER. Don't let this happy face fool you. He hated the ER. He would start to cry when a nurse or doc would walk in. This was after a couple little naps and a treatment. I'm holding a cup they taped to the oxygen tube to blow in his face.

Hangin out with g-ma Denni on his leash...He had to have the monitor thing on his toe the whole time to check his pulse and oxygen. He hated that thing too. He pulled so many off his toe. The footy PJs worked pretty good to keep it on. We just didn't zip it up all the way.

Playing with the bed kept him entertained a good part of the time. However he called the nurse station multiple times...there are so many of those buttons.

Taking a nap :)

He finally got better at letting them put that by his face.

He's home

and loving it.

He's so happy!
