Bret and I had another 5 days together after my family left. It was so great!!! This was lots better than our original honeymoon. One of the days we flew to the big island and went to the National Volcano Park. Bret's goal was to see flowing lava. It was pretty cool to see all the cooled/hardened lava. There is a lot of it! We did the 8 mile (4 miles in and 4 miles out) to the flowing lava. Because the volcano erupted awhile ago and was moving on kind of a flat surface now, it was really slow! It was still cool to see it moving and hardening. I was really bummed that it was a cloudy wet day at first but the walk out there would have been soooo hot had it not been overcast. Right by the lava was crazy warm and smelled like fireworks. I was then grateful for the misty overcast weather. Bret was wishing he had brought some marshmallows or hotdogs to roast over the hot lava.
We also checked out some of the Pearl Harbor Memorial. There is a lot to see and do there and we only saw some of it. It is always so interesting to see WWII things and learning and relearning things of the past. I wish so much while I was going through the museum that I could talk to my grandpa more about being there in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I know some of his stories but I realised as I was trying to tell Bret the stories and him asking questions that I didn't know as much about it. I need to learn more.
I have just some other random pictures of our time together mixed in these.

Another plane ride.
This is one of the many craters. You can see steam coming up in about the middle of the picture and then farther back there is more steam that kind of blends in with the clouds.
New life.
It was cool to see it rippled like that.
A lava arch that formed. They say it will eventually fall from water and weather hitting it. You can also see the rain in our faces.
Cliffs. That is some thick lava.
The lighter gray is the hotter lava.
We got really close. It really was so hot right here. You can see the lava glow on both sides of Bret's head.
That is Bret out there taking pictures of the little flow right there.
It was really slow. It would flow and cool on the outside but then get hot enough on the inside another little spot would break open and slowly spew out.
A lava tunnel. It was formed because of the cool outside and hot inside.
Bret is King of the jungle.
We made another trip to the PCC. Bret is intense.
We also went back and checked out the visitors center at the temple.
Pearl Harbor
I didn't know that the white building (if you look close behind us near Bret's head, to his left) is built over the sunken USS Arizona.
It was warm that day. So some fries and a frosty were a must while we were in the states.
A turtle!
This was our on last day. So beautiful!
