Salzburg- Untersberg, Festung (fortress), and Mozarts house

The next few things on our Austria trip were taking the cable car up to Untersberg (a mountain), seeing the fortress there in Salzburg, and going to Mozart's house. Going up in the cable car was a little scary but cool especially when we went through the clouds. Once we got up to the top, it was awesome! The view was so amazing but we decided that wasn't enough and wanted to go up higher so we did the short hike up to the cross. The kids did awesome and the weather was great! After coming back down from the mountain we headed over to the Fortress. It was pretty cool and had a little museum of marionettes up there. Just to add into our packed day we ended with touring Mozart's house. It is rebuilt because it had been in a fire at one point. It was still interesting to see the musical instruments and learn about Mozart and his family. He and his sister were the only surviving kids out of 6 that his parents had. Once he got married, he too had 6 kids but only 2 survived. He was composing at like age 5. I told Lynndon she's a little behind on her musical skills. Its so crazy, then he died at age 35! He did a lot in those short years. It also mentioned multiple times that he was not a very handsome guy and painters tried to make him look a little better in paintings. Any who here are some pictures of our fun filled day.
Starting to go up in the cable car.

Cooper in the cable car. If you look carefully there is a black dot in between the bars on the door, that is the shadow of the cable car.

A closer picture of the shadow.
Going through the clouds.

We made it!

Starting our walk to a cross, not the one you can see in this picture though. That's lynndon on the bench.

We made it to the cross! Cooper and Lynndon are on the rock.

It was so beautiful!

This is a terrible picture but we were all crammed into the cable car on the way down.

A picture of the cables and mountain we were on top of.

The fortress up close.

The view of the city from the fortress.
The von Trapp family marionettes.

This Maria von Trapp marionette is 75 Euros!

A view from the other side of the fortress.

A view of the fortress from below.

City center area. The pyramid thing is covering a statue.

Listening to some info on Mozart.

Coopers height compared to Mozart. Mozart was not tall...

Cooper Mozart.

Mozart's house.

Little alley way. They also had Mozart things all over Salzburg.

I love all these pictures! I remember going to Austria. It's such a beautiful place! Dave and I hopped off the terrain in a town called Bludenz. It smelled like chocolate! We followed our noses until we came upon a chocolate factory/retail outlet. It was a very fun day exploring that little town. I love Europe! I'm so glad you're taking so many trips while you're there. Thanks for posting so many pictures!

Train, not terrain
