Italy- Pompeii

We got up early the next morning and took a train to Pompeii. Before we even thought about maybe coming to Europe, Pompeii is one place I thought would be so cool to visit but didn't think it would ever be possible. The opportunity to go came up and I was excited to take it. Pompeii is so big! We got the Rick Steves app and listened to and followed his tour around. It was really good. We did not get to see the casts of people which I was bummed about but still so cool and amazing for how old it is. Cooper was all over this Pompeii trip also. He read a book about Rome and Italy before we came. He found a spot in Pompeii that was in the book. It was inside a house and on the floor it said something in latin and he knew what it said in english because of this book. It was fun.

Train ride there.
Heading into Pompeii.

These are walking steps to cross the street so if there was water in the streets they didn't have to step in it. There are spaces in-between so the carts they had could still go through.

A bath house.

According to the Rick Steves app this place was like a "fast food" place.

Serving Bret some food.

Its hard to see in these pictures but there are grooves in the stones from their carts.

Lynndon said she was going to help build Pompeii back up.
Mt. Vesuvius there in the back ground. The peak on the left and the peak on the right used to be connect before the volcano erupted. Now you can see the big U shape.

A bakery

A theater
A lot of Pompeii are places where people lived all lined down the street. Cooper and Lynndon each chose a house next to each other.
Leaving Pompeii

Waiting for the train. Getting a little crazy...

One of the trains back to Ostia di Lido.

And some more gelato before bed.
