The first week was spent going crazy trying to get adjusted to the new time and all the in-processing stuff. My kids who get up every morning at about 6:30 (no matter what time they go to bed) were sleeping in. I would wake them up every morning at about 9 so we could get onto this new time and so we could go downstairs in the hotel and get breakfast before they put it away. It was rough and I really wanted to keep sleeping also. Our room was pretty decent though. It had one room and a little kitchen area. Just outside they had a playground, which was nice!
That weekend we decided to take the train in to see downtown. It was a little crazy but we got to try some yummy food and check out a little bit of Germany. It has been so helpful that Bret speaks German!!! We are a blonde hair blued eyed family and one lady assumed we were german and started speaking to us. Bret spoke back in German so her assumption continued but then she looked at me and said something and Bret didn't really back me up. That was my first time I did the dumb founded look and said sorry. It has happened many times now and each time I feel like a fool...it's great.
We didn't have our car but we still wanted to go to church. So what we had to do was walk about 30 min, get on a train, change to another train, then walk some more. It took us just under 2 hours. It was pretty crazy but it really was ok. We only had to do it once.
