So on the 3rd of July when Bret did the go-carts, it through his back out of whack again. Usually when that happens he is down for a few days, takes ibuprofen and then slowly gets better. Well this time didn't go quite like that. He could not stand for more than a minute maybe (going to the bathroom was huge task) and in constant pain in is back and sciatic nerve. He was like that for just over a week! It was not fun, especially for Bret. However the kids thought it was kind of cool that dad was home for a week.
It was rough watching him lie there in pain and trying so hard to help him but nothing really helped. He ended up sleeping on the living room floor for the week. It was just easier to stay on the floor so he didn't have to move too much. I also slept better not having to listen to him toss and turn and moan and groan all night. If I got some sleep it was lots easier to take care of everyone and kind of try to keep my house put together. He did get some stronger pain killers from the doc, who happens to be in our ward and one of our friends. They kind of helped him. At times though he just felt doped up but still in pain so it wasn't so great.
However the perk of Bret being home was that I could leave the kids at home to go exercise and run errands, just as long as McCoy was asleep. Grocery shopping with out kids...awesome. So after a week Bret finally was able to get up and move some and go back to work. The poor guy still hurts and doesn't sleep the greatest. He had a second steroid injection done and is now doing physical therapy. I sure hope we can find something that helps him.

McCoy took any opportunity he could to climb on Bret.

I got home from running and the kids were getting Bret some cereal. He ate all his meals here.

The row of meds for Bret (in the container is icy hot). He was trying anything to get rid of pain. (Obviously he didn't take them all at once)
