We made a weekend trip to Fürth and Nürnberg. They are right next to each other and not to far from us. It is where Bret served for 10 months while on his mission. As a missionary you don't get to explore much. So we did some sight seeing and finding Bret's old apartment. Bret was excited mostly to go to church there and see some familiar faces. It was pretty fun and Sunday was probably one of our funnest days. I even saw someone that I know in that ward (I'll explain more in another post). These are pictures from that Saturdays sight seeing. We went to a wild pig enclosure, saw Bret's apartment, and went to the documentation center. The documentation center was really interesting but not so great for kids especially McCoy. It is a building that Hitler started to build to have Nazi rally's at but never finished. Now part of the building is for a symphony, another part is the museum, and the middle is an arena like thing that is also just for storage now and the museum.

We where standing looking at the pigs in this next area when an older man came up to us. He started talking to Bret in German and asked if he could give the kids some candy. We said ya, then he went on to tell us a story from when he was 9 years old during WW 2. Of course it was all in German. I only caught a few words here and there and his hand gestures. So I didn't really know what he was saying. After he walked away and we said goodbye Bret explained to me more of what he was saying. The man was explaining that when he was 9 a soldier came up to him and grabbed him by the neck and just kept yelling at him and both his parents died in the war. Before we walked away he said he would rather be poor (which he didn't really look poor) and see the happy faces of the kids when they get the candy. So he always carries candy with him. He was a very sweet man and it was so humbling. We are so blessed in our life. I wanted to find him again after that and take a picture with him and talk some more but we didn't see him again.
