Roller Derby!

      I am slowly but surely getting caught up on the things we have done while Bret has been gone. Back about a month ago, there was a little carnival they had on base. The Alamogordo Roller Derby was there with a booth doing face painting. Lynndon really wanted her face painted so we waited in line. While we were in line one of the roller derby girls asked if I wanted to put my name in for a drawing. I said "sure why not." They called me about an hour later saying I had won! I just laughed and thought "cool I've never been to a roller derby thing before." They gave me a basket with two cup things, some decals, and of course 2 tickets to a roller derby bout! If Bret were here, it would have been a fun date but he wasn't. My next thought was taking my friend Krista. I had an extra ticket and kids under 10 were free.

      Now let me tell you a little about Krista. I just love her, she is amazing and so strong. Her hubby is deployed right now. She has 3 active boys and his pregnant with her fourth baby, which is a girl! Her hubby will most likely miss the birth because she has her babies really early. Her last one was born at 31 1/2 weeks! She does not have your average pregnancies. She has a blood disorder that makes her platelet levels drop. When she is pregnant they drop like crazy. About a week before this roller derby she had her first blood infusion during this pregnancy. A couple days after getting one she feels awful and her hubby is usually there to help out. There are great people here that have helped a lot though. The thing about Krista is even though she is going through all this while her hubby is gone. She checks in on me and sees how I am doing while Bret is gone. I try to do it for her too and help her out but i'm not going to lie. I don't know that if I were in her shoes I would be offering to help other people as much. She is just so great and I can learn a lot from her. 

      Saturday, May 9th, we went and pick them up. Picked up some good ole' McDonalds and headed to the roller derby. It was pretty fun and I learned a lot about roller derby. I want to do it pretty much just so I can have a cool roller derby name!
